Mikaela (Miki) Thorneycroft
VET NURSE | COMMENCED MARCH 2020
Where did you grow up and how did your childhood shape you to work at YVV?
I grew up on an 8 generation family farm just outside of a small, rural town known as Dalton. From day one I always had an obsession with being with and around the animals. I was always had poddy calves and lambs to hand raise and as Pop would say ‘get them going’. I spent most of my childhood doing things on the farm from planting trees to marking lambs and learning the ropes of what it is meant by ‘hard work’. Which really kickstarted my love and dedication for all animals, big and small, and I knew that one day I would work in an industry dedicated to animals.

What qualifications do you have?
I recently completed Year 12 and the HSC. I began working early November 2019 as a kennel hand and after about one month I was offered a position to become a Trainee Vet Nurse. I am currently studying my Certificate II in Animal Studies and hope to complete that as quickly as possible to begin my Certificate IV in Vet Nursing!
