COMMENCED APRIL 1993

I grew up in Orange spending my weekends and holidays working on the small family farm and helping my stock and; station agent dad at the Orange saleyards. I had a small Suffolk sheep stud through high school and helped my sisters with their Angora goat stud. I could have easily become a stock and station agent but my mother insisted that I needed to go out and learn a trade.

I graduated in 1986 from Sydney University and started at Parkes Veterinary Hospital in the same year. After two years of grounding in rural mixed practice, I headed overseas for a 2 1/2 year working holiday, gaining great experiences locuming in some memorable rural practices around the UK. I returned to Parkes for 18 months and then took up a position at Yass Veterinary Hospital in 1993, becoming a partner in 1996 and principal in 2011.

I like the variety that rural mixed practice offers and the unpredictability of the workload with no two days being the same. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary science but I’m most content doing any type of surgery and travelling around the countryside on large animal calls. I am blessed to work with a wonderful dedicated staff that strives to lift the quality of the services that our vet hospitals offers but at the same time enjoying a joke.

I am married to Cath and have two children, Angus and Rosie. In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors, watching the kid’s sport, being active with mates (while the body still allows) and getting away with family and friends. I have recently taken up bike riding and enjoy cycling through the bush.
